Growing up in San Mateo south of San Francisco, I was raised between two ceaseless microcosms: The breath of the ocean and the march of technological innovation. In the coastal kelp tide pools and the maker's faire spectacles, I learned that the sea was infinitely deep and the sky was infinitely high.
I built my passion for living machines through Aragon High School's robotics team FRC 840, where I developed a foundation in power and shop tools as well as functional design in CAD. As much as I thrived in the community, when it came time for higher education I found the mechanical engineering path was too industrial for me and instead looked for more expressive pursuits.
Funnily, it wasn't until I was in New York that I discovered new media arts as a practice as well as a program. I studied at New York University's liberal studies program focusing on global religion and philosophy for 2 years before transferring to NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Integrated Design and Media program where I finally found a place to combine my curiosity and craft.
